The Clinician: Elvin and his wife, Jan, have lived at the That’ll Do Ranch in Westerose, Alberta, Canada since 1981 where they raise purebred Red Angus, Border Collies and Quarter Horses. In the summer they run a summer grazing program for 1,500 head of yearlings. Border Collies are used extensively in the cattle operation e.g. during the A.I. season, gathering, treating and general management whether in the corrals, chutes or open pasture. Cutting Horses are a passion of Elvin’s and he uses the Border Collies as turn=back dogs.

In the past Elvin has competed extensively in sheepdog and cattle trials. It has always been his goal to have a good practical working ranch dogs that can be competitive. Some of Elvin’s many accomplishments include winning the ‘World Sheep Dog Championship’ in 1987, Five time ‘Alberta Open International’ winner, Five times A.S.D.A. ‘Cow Dog and Sheep Dog of the Year’ in succession, National Nursery Cow Dog Champion in 2007, plus trained 13 dogs that won major open competitions in North America.

THE CLINIC:

The Clinic will be held at the Dennis Ranch at 375 E Pavillion road, Pavillion, Wyoming in central Wyoming.  Friday, August 27th will start at 5pm with dinner followed by instruction (6-9) from Elvin. Saturday and Sunday begin at 8am and end at 5pm with a lunch break (lunch provided). We will be working on sheep and cattle. COST: $300 per person (includes the 2 ½ days of instructions plus Friday dinner and two lunches.  First come, first serve – limited numbers to keep the clinic small.  Preregistration required.  Auditors can observe without a dog for $25/day (includes the meal for the day).
